Rotary Bridge Project

Under sponsorship of both the Granville Township and the Rotary Club of Granville, a walking bridge has been proposed which would connect the TJ Evans pedestrian and bicycle path to Raccoon Valley Park (where many of our GRD events are held).  The bridge helps create a convenient access point on the east side of the park and could potentially lessen the traffic congestion on River Road and the park in general.

This bridge has been approved for a grant provided by the ODOT Transportation Enhancement Grant funding process. “The initial amount of the grant earmarked for the project is $1,005,000 and represents 80% of the estimated cost for construction and project engineering”, according to John M. Weigand, Rotary Project Coordinator. “This is a wonderful opportunity for Granville and Licking County as it further strengthens our infrastructure for non-vehicular transportation. It was the culmination of efforts made by the Rotary Club, the Granville Township trustees as sponsoring agency, the Village of Granville and particularly Alison Terry who wrote the grant, the Granville Recreational District, community members who wrote letters of support and many area foundations that contributed to the cause”.

The GRD has committed financial support to the bridge project. Access to the park from the bike path allows bicycles and pedestrians to easily access our facility.
